About two days ago my father and I were ‘questioning’
my grandma about how she met her hubby. She told us she was living in McAllen at the time, it was the early 60’s and she was walking down the street in a brown plaid skirt when he passed by. From the moment he saw her he was… well, sprung. She went on and on and for the first time ever, I got the full story including details on the stuff they did and other men that were trying to woo her, etc etc.
It was interesting -to say the least. She told us about her marriage and their problems, the good times as well. She spoke for a pretty long time stopping a bit after touching the part where my grandpa died and left behind kids ranging from 11-ish? to a few months old. She worked hard to provide what little they had and everyone in the family acknowledges that.
Today I was thinking about all that. I feel life’s tough for pretty much everyone at this point in history. It might be different, instead of facing problems of the past, we face a dangerous world. Nukes being built left and right, terrorist related threats, and a war worth fighting… with no end in sight. Every generation faces new problems as well as every person.
Problems have one thing in common. Whether its health related, financial, personal, or some other sort of problem, we must face them with courage and confidence. Set your eyes on what you want and work your ass off for it if you have to. Anything is possible.
